MOA Newsletter - July 2013

It's hard to believe that we are past midwinter already, and with the beautiful weather recently one might be forgiven for thinking we're into summer. There will no doubt be some bad weather ahead, but with MOA you can have plenty of fun without needing to brave the elements at all.

Past Events

On Friday 14 June MOA held a very successful Skyfall movie night. The bar staff has never looked so dapper! Thanks to everybody who came along to watch the movie and enjoy a few themed cocktails (the vodka martinis priced at $007 went down particularly well).

Well done to Les Stewart who won the Skyfall DVD raffle (open to those who registered in advance) and can now watch the DVD at home as often as he wants.

Upcoming Events

Midwinter Christmas - Friday 12 July

On Friday 12 July it's Midwinter Christmas time. There'll be egg nog and mulled wine behind the bar, Christmas cake, decorations and festive music, and a present from Santa for every MOA member who registers in advance. Register now at http://www.chchmoa.org.nz/upcomingevents/event-registration so Santa will know you're coming.

MOA AGM - Tuesday 30 July

The Annual General Meeting for MOA members will be held on Tuesday 30 July. Members, you should receive an email invitation to this, so please take the time to respond to that and let us know whether or not you're coming. This helps us to provide suitable seating and make sure there is enough free food and drink for everybody who comes along.

MOA/DCC Sports Weekend - 27 to 29 September

Plans are afoot for the annual Sports Weekend and this year it will be hosted by our friends at Dunedin City Council. This weekend trip is always great fun and, despite the title, does not require any real athletic ability or sporting prowess. Of course, if you are good at those things that's even better! There is always fierce competition between MOA and DCC for victory in the various indoor and outdoor sports and pub games, as well as plenty of time to socialise and enjoy a Saturday night party and a group breakfast before hitting the road again on Sunday.

We will have more details closer to the time, but for now just block out the date in your diary so you can plan to come along.

Housing News

The Tikao Bay house has now had a spring clean and some much-needed pruning of the trees outside. The view has been restored and the house is even sunnier than before with light coming through the back windows - come down and enjoy it! And don't worry if it's wet outside, because there is also a new clothes dryer installed for your convenience. Thanks to everybody who helped.

Furniture Wanted

We would like to replace the dining chairs (looking for 4-6 chairs) and the puzzle / games chest at Tikao Bay. If you have anything suitable please email houses@chchmoa.org.nz.
